Dead End Roads and Lost Highways

Dead End Roads and Lost Highways  by Burn Halo.

This band was introduced to me via my dad. When I first heard this song, I immediately connected with it.

The part that strikes me the most is the chorus.

How long are you gonna have to go
Before you see the miles of mistakes and the waste
Down these dead end roads and lost highways

It's too late, its too late
Its too late to get saved

Pray, but you don't know what to say
You've wounded all your faith
Is that the devil you've been kissing?

We all have to go on our on journey sometimes - and often we all have to go down dead end roads and lost highways in order to find the road that actually leads us somewhere. I know I have. I've also had to watch friends and family do it. I think we've all "kissed the devil" and at some point we have to realize that is just what we are doing.

The wrong road has no option but to lead us to a dead end - so why are we still on that road? We're on that road by choice; whether we like it or not. You're there because you haven't decided to get off. Oh man, this leads me to another song... Gorgeous Nightmare by Escape the Fate. The song introduces itself with the following line: I've got another confession to make so complicated, let me try to explain, don't want this feeling to go away so it stays (It stays, It stays, It stays)

Much like that we allow things, that we like or don't like, to stay in our life because on some level,we want that thing to stay - for better or worse. I have allowed things to stay in my life, because even though I knew it wasn't good for me, I wanted it there. It's those things, that I am now trying to rid myself of. In order to do that I've had to go back and face some things inside me that weren't always pleasant. It's songs like this one by Burn Halo that has helped me, not just address a problem outside me, but inside me as well.
